Website #19

http://www.bbc.co.uk/

This UK website is a very good resource that implements the use of pictures with words to support the National Literacy Strategy Framework for Teachers.   Categories begin with Phonics Year 2, CVC Words, Consonant Clusters, Long Vowel Sounds, Frequency Words, Gallery, and Teachers and Parents.  This last section includes some helpful printable resources for both teachers and parents.  Moreover, the part that kids will like about clicking on the learning icons is that once they do they are in for a technological ride!  Each learning icon is filled with activities and learning reinforcements that work by shockwave flash and realvideo technology.  This makes for a more fun, adventurous, and spontaneous classroom session or even an anticipated supplememental exercise to work through at home.  When placing this website on the computerized projector where all students can observe what's happening on the screen, it becomes a most helpful resource for teachers as an additional part of their completed lesson plans.
